HOUSING SELECTION DATES

Housing Selection for the 2022-2023 academic year will take place from the week of February 21st. Please see the tentative schedule below and stay tuned for more detailed information regarding next steps!

Starting February 14: Students will be able to select roommates through their housing portal

February 21: Selection numbers will be assigned through the software and distributed to your Augsburg email. 

February 23-25: Students will select their housing placement through their housing portal

RESEARCH PARTICIPATION – $50 GIFT CARDS!

Cody Nye and Nathan Seung, are students at the University of Minnesota-Morris and currently doing research with Dr. Heather J. Peters, Ph.D., LP. This volunteer research project examines how COVID-19 is affecting International Students’ mental, social, academic, and sleep health and how those factors interact with each other. 

This study is expected to take 10-15 minutes. If you agree to take part in this research study, you will have an opportunity at the end of the survey to enter your email address into a drawing for one of six $50 gift cards

Education Privacy Rights

If you wish to authorize Augsburg University to speak with any other individual on your behalf you must complete the online Information Release.

You can authorize access to any or all of the following: Financial Aid/Finances (ex: awards, status, charges, credits), Grades/GPA (not automatically sent – provided verbally when requested), Academic (ex: enrollment information, academic progress, advising).

 

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is the federal law which governs the release of and access to your student records. In accordance with FERPA you have the right to: inspect and review your education records, request amendment of your education records, give permission for disclosure of your personally identifiable information, withhold disclosure of your “Directory Information”, and complain to the FERPA Office. Drug Free Schools

In compliance with the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989 (Public Law 101-226) Augsburg University has implemented a program to prevent the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees. The Student Guide provides information about standards of conduct, appropriate sanctions for violations of federal, state, and local law and campus policy, a description of health risks associated with alcohol and other drug use and a description of available treatment programs.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 10: WORKING TOWARD INCLUSIVE SPACES WORKSHOP

This Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program workshop will highlight four common ideologies, misunderstandings, and behaviors that many well-meaning individuals frequently subscribe to that inadvertently sabotage their best attempts to create and maintain welcoming and inclusive spaces at Augsburg. Additionally, this workshop will provide participants with historical, current, and relevant examples connected to these ideologies, misunderstandings, and behaviors. Finally, this workshop will also allow participants to engage in small group activities and discussions and large group share-outs all related to Augsburg-specific spaces.

  TAXES COMING   

If you are an F-1 student or F-2 dependent, you are required to file taxes each year, no matter whether no not you have worked in this tax year. HOW TO SCHEDULE YOUR TAX SESSION(S) WITH BSC?

We encourage international students to set up two meetings with the BSC Tax team: 

  1. AN INDIVIDUAL 15-minute INTRO SESSION – IN DECEMBER and JANUARY

This is a quick session where BSC staff can learn more about your personal tax circumstances and assist you in applying the current tax laws to your situation. The intro session will outline the next steps and actions you might need to take.  This INTRO session will provide you with the next steps and actions you might need to take before tax time next spring.  Schedule YOUR 15- MINUTE INTRO SESSION HERE.

  1. ONE-ON-ONE 1-hour SESSION – IN FEBRUARY

This will be a tutorial session to walk through the app on your phone, answer questions and accept your documents so BSC can prepare your tax return for you. Schedule YOUR ONE-ON-ONE TUTORIAL SESSION HERE.

 VACCINE and MASK MANDATE

 

Please uphold the vaccination AND mask mandate put forth by Augsburg University. 

 

AUGSBURG IS EXTENDING ITS INDOOR MASKING MANDATE INTO THE MONTH OF JANUARY.

 

COVID response team will be sending you frequent emails now that the statewide mandates are updating fast! Please keep an eye out for their emails and maintain the mandates.

 

Remember to Self Report (link to student resources below) if you have tested positive or have COVID symptoms. The COVID response team will contact you and assist you will on-campus necessities. 

 

Ensure to isolate when tested positive and quarantine if showing any COVID symptoms. Use Campus Clear App frequently!

 

N95 or KN95 masks are the most effective masks to protect you and your peers against the Omnicron variant. You are required to wear masks indoors at all times whether or not you are vaccinated.

 

Boosters along with the first two doses of the COVID vaccine is recommended by the COVID response team.

 

When interacting with businesses and people off or on campus, be mindful of the current transmission rate. Currently, businesses and restaurants will require a negative test or proof of vaccination according to mandates adopted by the city of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Classes and events may be online only. 

 

Vaccination Status 

Augsburg has also asked ALL students to share their vaccination status, AND upload a request for an exemption or extension of the vaccine. You have not completed this task as of yet.
