There’s a new addition to the team, welcome Chiara!!

She is our new ISSS Program Assistant, find more about us on the Meet Our Team page.

It has come to our attention that some fire alarms went off recently so we wanted to share a few tips in case this happens again.

✅ First of all, Sign up for Emergency Notification Services and make sure you and those around you are safe.

When the Fire Alarm sounds, act immediately to ensure your safety. The Fire Alarm System is designed and engineered to provide you with an early warning to allow you to safely exit the building during an emergency situation.

  • Never ignore or assume the alarm is false or the result of a test.

  • Everyone must evacuate the building by way of the safest and closest exit and/or stairway.

  • Never use an elevator to exit during a fire alarm activation.

  • Once outside the building, move away from the building. Assemble across the street or along the sidewalk of the adjacent building.

  • The front of the building is where the firefighters and fire trucks will be operating. Do not obstruct their access to the building.

  • If there is an incident occurring on the upper floors and glass is being blown out of the windows, the area below is the hazard zone where serious personal injuries will happen. Do not remain in or near the hazard zone.

  • Once outside, never re-enter the building until you are told to do so by the fire department or Police.

✅ COVID cases on campus have remained manageable for the first three weeks of the spring term – similar to levels during the fall semester. Augsburg is continuing to monitor cases and, as required by the Minnesota Department of Health, report weekly case numbers. Additionally, the Augsburg COVID Task Force meets monthly to monitor regional and campus status relative to COVID.

As we continue through this semester, we hope the following bullets will provide useful information about COVID vaccine availability, requirements if you test positive, and a new COVID treatment program in Minnesota:

  1. Vaccination. The best way to protect yourself from severe illness is to get vaccinated. The COVID vaccination is still free and requires no insurance. That may change later this spring, however, so now is a good time to get the updated bivalent COVID vaccination (which came out this past fall) if you have not done so already. You can use the Minnesota COVID-19 Vaccine Finder to schedule an appointment at a nearby location.

  2. COVID case reporting. Because COVID-19 is very transmissible, the CDC still requires isolation for those who test positive and masking for those who have an exposure to someone with COVID-19. If you test positive for COVID-19, we ask that you complete the self-report form (available on Augsburg’s COVID-19 Planning site, which you can find near the top of Inside Augsburg). When you submit the form, you will receive an automated email providing information about isolation and masking based on the dates and other information you provide. For students, this form also prompts the Dean of Students office to provide your isolation dates to your instructors via Moodle.

  3. COVID treatment. Recently, the State of Minnesota launched a no-cost, at-home COVID-19 treatment program for all Minnesota residents. No insurance is required.
