The Global Living Community (GLC) is an intercultural living and learning environment in which intercultural understanding extends beyond the classroom into daily student life.

The primary goal of the GLC is to contribute to the global literacy at Augsburg University by creating an on-campus community in which cultural diversity is truly valued.

The WU Foundation Grant  has invited Augsburg University to nominate up to 5 students that will be CONSIDERED for the Western Union Foundation Grant. This grant will deliver a support grant to a total of 5 students nationwide. Awarded students will each receive USD $10,000 for the 2023/24 academic year.

✅ Job opportunity for F1 students

Tuesday, April 4th: 1pm-5pm, Need 70 students

All should dress in appropriate gear to perform physical work outdoors, including gloves, layers for weather, etc. Work will include bending, pushing, and some lifting.

Pizza will be provided for all on Tuesday at the end of the shift. 

Rate of Pay: $15.19 per hour (direct deposited to student bank account on file)
EXISTING student employees get signed up immediately, since they already have an active profile with payroll. But the sign-up is open to ALL students on campus.
Non-employee students must complete onboarding paperwork before starting (those not already working on campus). All students will be paid, but some need to fill out forms. I know who needs paperwork completed, so I’ll reach out to them.

✅ Ramadan 
We acknowledge that our Muslim students are going to be observing Ramadan from the evening of Wed, Mar 22, 2023 – to the evening of Fri, Apr 21, 2023. 
The dining commons will be open later in the evenings after the sun sets, and for the mentor training, we will serve food at the end of the meeting out of respect.

✅ What is closed?

  • The Dining Commons will be closed starting at 1:30pm this Friday, March 10 and reopening for dinner at 5pm on Sunday, March 19.
  • Einstein’s will close at 1:30pm this Friday, March 10. It will be open on Monday, March 13 from noon to 6:00pm, but then closed for the remainder of break. It will open for regular hours on Monday, March 20.
  • Nabo and Kafe Kafeega will be closed starting at 1:30pm this Friday, March 10 and reopening for regular hours on Monday, March 20.
  • The Residence Life office in Urness-Mortensen Lobby will be closed starting on Saturday, March 11 and will reopen Monday, March 20.

✅ Is there food available anywhere on campus this weekend?

Campus Cupboard will be open on Monday, March 13; Tuesday, March 14; and Wednesday, March 16 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm in Anderson Residence Hall Basement. If you need additional food resources during the long weekend, click here.


✅ Can Urness Hall residents request access to a kitchen during spring break?

The Food Lab (Hagfors Center 106) will be open to students who live in Urness Hall who need access to a kitchen. The food lab will be open during spring break, Monday through Friday, from 9:00am – 5:00pm.

To request fob access to the Food Lab during spring break, please email deanofstudents@augsburg.edu no later than noon on Friday, March 10.


✅ What if I have any emergencies or general concerns in the residence halls? 

For any emergencies or general concerns this weekend, please contact the Department of Public Safety (DPS) at 612-330-1717. DPS is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

GLOBAL LIVING | Living Learning Community

Here’s a reminder that if you have already submitted your housing application, but you’d like to switch it to a GLC housing, you can do it without any charges.
Email Residence Life at residencelife@augsburg.edu and let them know you would like to change your housing selection.
It will likely be a floor house in Anderson, which can have up to 16 residents and a vast living space and kitchen.
