The spring semester class registration is about to end. Make sure you register for your classes.

✅  Thanksgiving Break

November 24 and 25, 2022 are Thanksgiving breaks – No classes. Enjoy your time OFF!!

There will be a potluck event ON campus for those of you who are not going away for the break. All are invited and please contact Betti for more details (either via WhatsApp or email: zerihunb@augsburg.edu.

Remember that the Dining Services will be closed and so will Einstein and Nabo. It is important to make sure you have food available to you. Check out Campus Kitchen for hours. They will most likely be open for a few hours on Thursday and Friday.

We give THANKS to ALL of you!

✅ F-1 Off-Campus Employment related to Economic Hardship

There are lots of unforeseen circumstances in the world currently that make the financial situation hard and unexpected for international students.

If you are facing economic hardship and would like to apply for Off-Campus Employment (including jobs not related to your field of studies) please schedule an appointment with the Bettine to learn more. There is a USCIS fee of $410 and the application process takes 3-6 months – but despite the fee and length of the application process, it may be worth applying. This will not affect your CPT or OPT.

✅ Winter Break

Winter Break will take place on Dec 17, 2022 – Jan 2, 2023.

For students who plan to stay on campus during winter break, please contact the ISSS office director Bettine: at hermansb@augsburg.edu. We are working with Res Life to ensure you have access to microwaves and kitchens during that time.

If you are planning to leave the country, make sure you have a travel signature from Bettine on your I-20 and ensure that your F-1 visa is still valid. If not, you will need to renew your F-1 visa in your home country in order to return to the U.S. in January.

✅ ISSS PROGRAM ASSISTANT Position POSTED
First I want to thank Priti for all her amazing work in the ISSS office, serving all international students. She has kept great tabs on all things ISSS related, including the mentor program and advising, creating newsletters, updating our website and MORE.
Priti, has accepted a position at the Strommen Center for Meaningful Work, so you may run into her there when looking for an internship opportunity or support creating your resume. Congrats, Priti!

We are excited that a new person will soon be hired in this position. If you haven’t already seen the posting and you ARE interested in applying please check out Handshake under on-campus employment. If not use this link: ISSS Program Assistant Position. The deadline for applying is October 18.

✅ STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS Calls – FALSE
Please know that many students are being called from fraudulent callers (not good) who are asking students to give them personal information, including social security.
